At 65.40 lakh MT, Punjab achieves 50 per cent of wheat procurement goal

The Punjab authorities on Wednesday stated it achieved 50 per cent of wheat procurement goal for the continued advertising season inside 20 days of the start of the method on April 1.
Out of the estimated 130 lakh metric tonnes of wheat, the state mandis noticed the arrival of 67.50 LMT to this point, of which 65.40 LMT has been procured throughout the ongoing rabi advertising season, in keeping with an official assertion.

The crop was sown over 35.02 lakh hectares within the state and the full wheat manufacturing is estimated at 171 LMT.
In the meantime, the state authorities has warned merchants, non-public firms and people towards shopping for wheat immediately from farmers with out paying the market payment.
An official spokesperson stated that it has come to the discover that some individuals, merchants and companies have been illegally procuring wheat immediately from farmers.
“If any such case is discovered, offenders must pay a penalty amounting 10 instances of market payment along with the precise market payment,” the spokesperson stated.
