After the acquittal of Bibi Jagir Kaur, Dalwinder Kaur Dhesi and others within the Harpreet Kaur abduction and loss of life case by the Punjab and Haryana Excessive Courtroom in December 2018, Kamaljeet and the CBI moved the Supreme Courtroom in 2019. The case — CBI vs Bibi Jagir Kaur and Others — is but to come back up for listening to.

The case dates again to 1999, when Bibi’s daughter Harpreet Kaur and Kamaljeet, who hailed from the identical village (Begowal), reportedly fell in love and acquired “secretly engaged”. Bibi, then Cupboard minister and SGPC president, was in opposition to their relationship.

Harpreet acquired pregnant and as per the CBI, the being pregnant was illegally terminated at Dhesi’s home in Phagwara. Harpreet later died and was allegedly cremated in a hurried method.

Kamaljeet approached the Excessive Courtroom, which handed over the case to the CBI and after 12 years, it led to the conviction of Bibi and her aides, together with private safety officer Nishan Singh, Paramjit Singh Raipur and Dhesi. They have been awarded 5 years in jail for conspiring to trigger Harpreet’s miscarriage. In December 2018, the Excessive Courtroom acquitted all of them.

Kamaljeet needs an early listening to on his Particular Go away Petition. Even Bibi has moved an utility looking for an early listening to within the case. She says the case has sabotaged her political profession.

“I used to be the SGPC president when the case was registered. I used to be sworn in as a minister simply 12 days earlier than I used to be convicted. The case has no foundation,” she says.
