Ludhiana Excise groups perform intensive search in Wager space; destroy 2.8 lakh kg of lahan and 100 litre of illicit liquour

As a way to examine menace of illicit brewing from lahan, an intensive search operation was carried out by the Excise groups early on Tuesday within the Wager space in Ludhiana district, the place about 2.8 lakh kilogram of unclaimed lahan and 100 litre of illicit liquor was recovered and destroyed on the spot.
Following the directives of Excise and Taxation Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, the Punjab Excise Commissioner Varun Roojam constituted 4 groups to launch the search operation in Wager space at round 5.30 am on Tuesday, stated an official spokesperson.
He stated the 4 groups had been constituted beneath Patiala Zone Excise Deputy Commissioner Shalin Walia by Ludhiana Vary Excise Assistant Commissioner Shivani Gupta.
The search was carried out within the areas/villages on the banks of the River Sutlej specifically Talwani Nabad, Gorsia close to Barundi, Bholewal Jadid, Rajapur, Khera Wager, Mazzara Kalan, Hakam Rai Wager, Sherewal, Baghian and Village Bahadur Ke, stated the spokesperson.
The combed search operation was carried out within the space spanning about 40 kilometre, he added.
As many as 60 members of search groups led by Ludhiana Excise officers consisting of the Excise Inspectors and the Excise police workers carried out the search.
The water used for this objective was stuffed with chemical wastes and toxins launched because it got here from the sewage of varied industrial items of Ludhiana.
The raid made the individuals concerned working away, abandoning 30 working stills, six quintals of wooden, 15 iron drums, two aluminium vessels, plastic pipes and 12 baggage of jaggery.
