A day after The Tribune highlighted how the Punjab Public Service Fee (PPSC) had set the query paper for the naib tehsildar examination solely in English, which was flagged by aspirants, the fee at present clarified the prescribed guidelines stipulated it to be set in that language solely.

Aspirants who had taken the examination had stated as per a communication despatched by the Punjab Larger Training and Languages Division in February, setting query paper solely in English language was in violation of the principles of The Punjab Official Language Act, 1967, and The Punjab Official Language (Modification) Act, 2008, and demanded that the examination be carried out once more.

However in an announcement, PPSC Chairman Jagbans Singh at present stated the principles prescribed by the PPSC stipulated the query paper be set in English language solely.

He stated all such examinations up to now too have been carried out within the English language solely with the exception being of the Punjab State Civil Providers Mixed Aggressive Examination — each preliminary and primary — which is carried out in each English and Punjabi.

He stated the minimal eligible qualification for the publish of naib tehsildar was commencement and a graduate in any stream was anticipated to have a primary data of English that permits him to decide on appropriate choices in multiple-choice questions.
