Towards textile park, activists meet Forest Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak
Chandigarh, Might 24
Farm union and inexperienced activists at present met Forest Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak, looking for safety and saving of the Mattewara, Jaspal Kadar, Haridarnagar and Salempur forests and flood plain of the Sutlej from a proposed textile park.
Col JS Gill ( retd), a member of the State Job Drive on Buddah Dariya Rejuvenation, stated the minister was apprised of the approaching menace to the protected forests and the flood plain as a consequence of a mega textile park being deliberate within the space.
“If the trade is allowed within the space, will probably be a catastrophe for the biodivesity of the area. Mattewara is the place of most biodiversity in central Punjab. We request you to maneuver the mega textile park away from Sutlej flood plain to a different appropriate location,” he stated.
