2 JCBs, tippers seized for unlawful sand mining

Regardless of ban, there is no such thing as a let up in unlawful sand mining. The police recovered two JCBs (earth digging machines) and two tippers from Kot Mehtab village, situated close to the Beas, whereas in one other case it confiscated a sand-laden Bolero pick-up truck.

Following a tip-off, a mining official together with a police staff carried out a raid in Kot Mehtab village the place unlawful mining was underway. On seeing the raiding events, the unidentified accused fled the spot.

Sub-Inspector Raghubir Singh mentioned sand was being mined from agricultural land. He mentioned the land was being demarcated to establish the proprietor and applicable motion can be taken towards the suspects. He mentioned a case below Part 21 (1) of the Mining Act was registered towards them and additional probe was on.

Equally, in one other raid, the police seized a Bolero pick-up truck laden with 200-cubic sand. The seizure was made after the Border Safety Drive authorities knowledgeable them concerning the automobile close to the Sundergarh Border Outpost in Sarangdev village. Two individuals, recognized as Jaspreet Singh of Chak Aul village and Gurjant Singh of Dabbar villages, fled the spot leaving the automobile behind.
