Farmers underneath the banner of BKU Ekta Sidhupur have began an indefinite protest demanding the arrest of an arhtiya (fee agent) who allegedly duped farmers within the district of crores of rupees.

They blocked the Bathinda-Zirakpur nationwide freeway close to Lehra Bega village in Bathinda. The protesting farmers raised slogans in opposition to the Police Division and state authorities alleging police inaction within the matter. After a gathering with senior police officers, the protesting farmer union members eliminated the blockade from the nationwide freeway, however began a dharna close to Dana Mandi space.

The police have already booked the arhtiya underneath Sections 420, 406 and 34 of the IPC.
