Regularise contractual workers: Bus union to govt

Members of the Punjab Roadways Punbus PRTC Contract Staff’ Union staged protests at 27 depots within the state demanding regularisation of their companies. Additionally they criticised the federal government for deciding to recruit workers on outsourcing foundation.
Kulwant Singh, vice-president, PRTC Contract Staff’ Union, stated, “The AAP authorities has determined to recruit workers on outsourcing foundation. It has did not honour its pre-poll promise of regularising companies of contractual employees. Furthermore, it’s a step in direction of privatisation of the transport sector by permitting extra buses to ply underneath the km scheme. All the guarantees made forward of the Meeting ballot to revive the general public transport sector are proving to be a bundle of lies.”
The union leaders warned that if their “real” calls for weren’t fulfilled, they’d intensify their protest within the coming days.
