4 Punjab officers suspended for stubble burning

CHANDIGARH: Punjab’s Agriculture Division on Sunday suspended 4 officers for dereliction of responsibility in detecting stubble burning incidents within the state.

The federal government has adopted a zero-tolerance coverage towards stubble burning and has been organising campaigns to sensitise farmers to not burn the stubble.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has requested the agriculture officers to make sure crop residue isn’t set ablaze within the fields. However the authorities discovered these 4 officers weren’t adhering to the instructions.

The suspended officers are Chief Agriculture Officer Harbans Singh and Agriculture Officers Satish Kumar, Harpal Singh, and Bhupinder Singh.
