US Congressman expresses solidarity with 1984 anti-Sikh riot victims

A US Congressman has expressed solidarity with the victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riot victims, a lot of whom fled to the US.

“In reminiscence of these Sikhs misplaced to this mindless violence between November 1 and three of 1984, and with respect to those that stick with it their legacy in south Jersey at this time, I stand right here in solidarity with my Sikh brothers and sisters,” stated Congressman Donald Norcross on the Home flooring on Wednesday.

“Madam Speaker, at this time, I rise in solidarity with the south Jersey Sikh neighborhood. This month marks 38 years since anti-Sikh rioters in India massacred Sikhs over three days,” he stated.

A Democrat, Norcross represents the primary Congressional District of New Jersey.

“The bloodbath was retaliation for the assassination of Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. There have been mass rapes and lynchings. Sikhs’ houses and their companies have been destroyed, senselessly slaughtered for nothing greater than their beliefs and their faith,” he stated.

“Following the slaughter, a number of the Sikhs selected to flee India. Right now, a lot of them name south Jersey house. They constructed lives for themselves, contributing to the training, financial, spiritual and cultural richness of our area,” Norcross stated.
