Kanungo held for taking bribe in Tarn Taran

A staff of the Vigilance Bureau (VB) led by Inspector Sharanjit Singh arrested a Kanungo of the Income Division with a bribe cash of Rs 10,000 from the workplace of the Tehsildar, Chabal, right here on Thursday. The Kanungo had taken the cash from a farmer to launch him Nishandehi (demarcation).
The accused had taken the bribe from a farmer, Bhalwinder Singh, a resident of Chahal village falling below the Sarai Amanat Khan police station. The accused has been recognized as Om Parkash, who was holding the cost of Sohal Thathi income circle.
Bhalwinder Singh needed to get the Nishandehi of the land as he had a dispute together with his family members over the property. The accused demanded a bribe of Rs 25,000 to get his work performed, however the deal was settled at Rs 15,000. The farmer gave Rs 5,000 to the Kanungo on November 21 and the remainder of the quantity was to be given on Thursday (at the moment).
Bhalwinder Singh lodged a criticism with the VB on this regard. He went to the workplace of the Kanungo first and gave him the bribe cash and was ready for the work to be performed when the VB staff entered the workplace and recovered the quantity from the drawer of his desk. Block Elementary Training Officers Manjinder Singh (Patti) and Jaswinder Singh (Chohla Sahib) had been current on the event as shadow witnesses.
The accused was booked below the Prevention of Corruption Act-1988.
