Padma Shri Award for Punjabi scholar Dr Rattan Singh Jaggi

Padma Shri award has been introduced for eminent scholar Dr Rattan Singh Jaggi within the subject of literature and schooling.
Dr Jaggi is well-known in Punjabi and Hindi literary circles, with Gurmat literature being his forte. He has devoted greater than 70 years of his life to serve the reason for Punjabi, Hindi and Gurmat literature.
Dr Jaggi bought a PhD in 1962 from Panjab College, Chandigarh, with reference to “Dasam Granth Da Pauranik Addhyan”.
He was awarded DLitt by Magadh College, Bodhgaya, in 1973 the place his topic in Hindi was “Sri Guru Nanak: Vyaktitatva, Krititva Aur Chintan”.
Dr Jaggi has authored many books on Guru Nanak Bani. Through the 550th Parkash Purb celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev, the Punjab Authorities bought a quantity titled “Guru Nanak Bani: Paathatey Vyakhya” ready from Dr Jaggi in Punjabi and Hindi which was distributed.
Dr Jaggi has additionally translated Tulsi Ramayan (Ramcharitmanas) in Punjabi.
Realising the necessity for an encyclopedia with a view to reply the queries involved with Guru Granth Sahib, in a quick however accredited method, Dr Jaggi authored “Guru Granth Vishavkosh (Encyclopedia)” in 2002 which was printed by Punjabi College, Patiala.
To honour Dr Jaggi for his accomplishments within the subject of literature, Punjabi College awarded him honorary D Litt diploma in 2014 with Guru Nanak Dev College, Amritsar, following the swimsuit in 2015.
