Worldwide human trafficking racket busted, 5 land in police internet

Mohali, January 25

The police arrested 5 members of a global human trafficking racket concerned in duping a number of residents of Punjab on the pretext of sending them overseas for jobs however kidnapping them halfway and demanding ransom from their kin.

As many as 25 individuals hailing from Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarkhand, and Uttar Pradesh have been rescued until now. The police have seized Rs 2.13 crore, 640-gm gold, seven cell phones, and 4 autos from the suspects, who’ve been recognized as Jalandhar native Baldish Kaur, Gurjit Singh, Hoshiarpur residents Sahil Bhatti, Som Raj, and Veena.

The police stated the kingpins of the human trafficking gang are Hoshiarpur resident Sunny Kumar, at the moment residing in Indonesia and Jasvir Singh, alias Sanjay, who’s in Singapore.

Modus operandi

The suspects used to lure youth on the pretext of sending them to the US by Mexico, Indonesia and Singapore. Mohali SSP Dr Sandeep Garg stated, “The suspects used to lure the youths on the pretext of sending them to the US and Europe by Mexico, Indonesia and Singapore. The kin of the sufferer was entrapped as they might declare that the cash can be taken solely after the candidate reached US. However as soon as the sufferer reached Bali, Singapore or Mexico, they used to kidnap them on gunpoint and extort cash from their kin. The victims instructed us that they had been crushed brutally and tortured until the cash was transferred to their account. The suspects are individuals of Punjabi origin, dwelling there.”

SP (Investigation) Amandeep Singh Brar and DSP (Investigation) Gursher Singh Sandhu stated, “Two circumstances have been registered towards the gang, at Kharar, on January 6 and Balongi, on January 3. The suspects have been booked below Sections 406, 420, 470, 386, 364, 370 of the IPC and the Punjab Journey Professions Regulation Act. A helpline has been launched to assist the victims and kin trapped by this racket.” The police stated Abhishek, Sonia, Malkiat Singh, Toni, Bhupinder Singh, Bhinda, Sandeep Arthiya and Suman are the opposite members concerned within the racket.

Helpline launched

  • SP (Investigation) Amandeep Singh Brar and DSP (Investigation) Gursher Singh Sandhu stated, “A helpline has been launched to assist the victims and kin trapped by this racket.”
  • Two circumstances have been registered towards the gang, at Kharar, on January 6 and Balongi, on January 3.
  • “The suspects have been booked below Sections 406, 420, 470, 386, 364, 370 of the IPC and the Punjab Journey Professions Regulation Act,” the officers added.
