
CBI searches at 30 areas in Punjab to probe allegations of corruption towards FCI officers
New Delhi, February 21
The CBI on Tuesday launched searches at 30 areas in Punjab as a part of its probe into allegations of corruption towards Meals Company of India (FCI) officers who procured inferior grains to profit retailers and rice millers, officers mentioned.
The CBI groups began coordinated raids on the premises of grain retailers, rice mill homeowners, and serving and retired officers of the FCI in a number of districts of Punjab, together with Fatehgarh Sahib and Moga, as a part of ‘Operation Kanak 2’, they mentioned.
That is the second spherical of searches within the FIR pertaining to an organised syndicate of officers on the FCI, who allegedly charged bribes of Rs 1,000-4,000 per truck unloaded on the FCI godowns from non-public millers per crop season for masking up low-quality grains provided by them and different favours.
The bribes had been allegedly circulated to officers in a well-defined proportion of cuts at every stage, it alleged.
The FIR gave particulars of such bribe assortment in lots of FCI depots throughout Punjab.
