Vigilance begins probe into Amritsar palm tree ‘rip-off’

The Vigilance Bureau has began a probe into the alleged rip-off pertaining to palm timber, planted in numerous elements of the town by the MC, on the premise of a grievance lodged by Amritsar North MLA and former IG Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh.

Kunwar had alleged gross irregularities and corrupt practices within the plantation and upkeep of palm timber planted on varied intersections. He had shot off a letter to the Chief Director, Vigilance Bureau, together with a duplicate to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

AAP MLA mentioned the contractor employed for planting these timber and the MC officers needs to be investigated.

In line with info, 175 palm timber have been procured for Rs 18 lakh in 2021 and the expenditure of planting them was extra. Nonetheless, inside a brief span of time, many palm timber dried because of poor maintenance.
